Happy Saturday to all. We had a spirited Webinar yesterday and I hope everyone enjoyed it. We had a couple of medical staffing companies on the call and the discussion began there. I let them know that medical staffing presents some challenges not necessarily found in other staffing segments. For example, the screening process of the staffers. It’s one thing to put an unqualified receptionist at a desk answering phones and quite another hiring an underqualified and improperly trained nurse to disperse medication to a patient. Also, from a marketing standpoint, many if not most have some sort of contract and it can be a nightmare tracking down hiring managers, often shift supervisors given they work a 3 shift day. Medical staffing is a very different animal and I suggest careful planning and extensive research to anyone considering that sector.
We also heard from Cory Hintz, Tempworks’ stalwart road warrior. Who could be better than Cory to take the temperature of the industry? He spends a major chunk of his life visiting Tempworks customers and companies who will someday be. Cory, like me, is an optimist and also believes that while there are some tough days ahead in the staffing business, there is also plenty of blue sky behind the dark clouds.
If you missed any Webinar, please feel free to call me anytime to discuss any topic one on one.
